Welcome to Hou Tian, an Avatar: the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra Roleplay forum. In 2008, our forum originally started after the series’ end, with three groups in mind: The Dawn - those who supported Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko in their restoration of the world, The Original People of the Flame - conservatives from the Fire Nation intent on regaining their Imperialist power, and The Jade Shark, a loosely organized cell of Anti-benders intent on ridding the world of those who held power over them, by any means necessary. Now, with the move of our forum, the timeline has grown, and the Jade Shark has evolved to fit the new, canon, Equalists. Play in the aftermath of Sozin’s Comet, eight years after the overthrow of Fire Lord Ozai, or play seventy years after Aang’s time, in the world of Korra, the newest Avatar.
Your choice: To build up the world of the White Lotus, and support the Avatar, or to bring Aang’s work to more collisions, more disagreement, and more imbalance. Play an original character or apply for a canon. When the world is in your hands, what will you do with it?

I’m kind of pleased that I called that over a month ago, ha. The fic doesn’t exactly fit canon (I don’t reference Pema), but I’m really, really proud of it. It was probably one of the most organic pieces I’ve written outside of Zutara stuff (and Zutara’s my OTP which is why it always flies off my fingertips). But yes.

Okay, once again fandom disappoints me. Actually, I shouldn’t say that - a handful of people in particular disappoint me.
Reference this post that I made. The girl seemed to want feedback, so I gave it. (Yes, it was my fault for assuming, and for that I apologize.) But as a writer, when people are wondering about conception, I want to give them input. Take it or leave it, and I thought I did a rather good job of not directing it as criticism. I never once criticized her roleplaying or writing ability. I only addressed the character itself, which had been called a Mary Sue. Not by me, I might add.
Then I saw this (found here) and had to wonder how anything I said labeled me “stupid” or that I didn’t know what I was talking about. And the fact that everyone seemed to willing to let someone bash a stranger in defense of their friend? That isn’t cool.
So I sent this (found here). For the record, I told her I’m sure she’s nice and in fact, that’s why I approached HER, because she seemed nice! (Also worth note, my mention of dismissal is based on this, found here, because she simply says “her history is not set in stone” and only addresses virtually the first line of my entire analysis. Even then it wasn’t meant as a slight, I simply wanted to know how anything I said made me “stupid.”) I will go ahead and say that even now, waterbendingharuka seems nice, and she was very forthright in answering me, and I applaud her for that. I only regret that she somehow thought I was criticizing her character again when I sent my second ask - although that was probably my fault.
But the real kicker. This (found here) and then in my inbox, ha. I wasn’t the one who attacked, no I think calling me “stupid” when she’d never even spoken to me before did that - and I also never told waterbendingharuka NOT to roleplay. In fact, I even went so far as to say she could have amazing writing ability! I didn’t write that analysis to stop her from roleplaying, it was so she could improve and keep going! Again, probably my assumption from my own perspective as a writer always wanting to improve.
Please, someone tell me if I was actually BULLYING. Because I never once told her to stop, never once told her that she was bad, and even my ask about the stupid thing was to ask how, honestly, they reached the conclusion that I’m “stupid” for giving her a clear and concise opinion on how her character could be reconstructed so it wouldn’t be viewed as a Mary Sue. Because if somehow that’s how I’m coming across, I obviously want to correct it.
I really want to know - since from where I’m sitting, I wasn’t the one who threw the first insult. I know on the internet tone is everything, but that’s why I went out of my way NOT to insult or slight her ability in any way. And I feel it’s within my right to ask for an explanation when I’ve been attacked by her friends baselessly in her defense. I get defending your friends, but you can support and encourage without demeaning a person you don’t disagree with.
So please, someone tell me if I was actually bullying. If anything, I’m pretty sure anon hate and people posting profanity-laced tirades about their hatred for me when we’ve never spoken makes me the victim, but I really don’t care about that.
